[Never Glass Imaging 2009]

VSprink MegaFeature!!

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 14, 2009, 8:19 AM
  • Mood: Wow!
:iconvsprink::iconblackscarletlove::iconvsprink:

I continue to be repeatedly overwhelmed by a whole bunch of amazing shots from single artists, and so I can't see any reason not to host an e-xibition. :slow:

This is the work of Tressie Davis, AKA =VSprink.

Tressie mostly shoots pictures of her children, and she does it exceptionally well.

I shall introduce them. =)

Riley
Age 7

Allie
Age 4

Dom
Age 15

Robby
Age 2

There are quite a few things that define Tressie's shots from others. Being a technical photographer myself, I very much admire photography that makes the craft 'seem easy'. You would be surprised at how many limitations present themselves in the most irritating of ways when sometimes you just wanna capture the damn image.
=VSprink seems to never have those issues. 'Seems' is the key word, and when you can present an image that looks absolutely perfect technically, as well as being a phenomenal image, that's good freakin' photography.

First I'll talk about the content, then I'll go into technique.
Every family has beautiful moments, and every family is lucky if they manage to capture them effectively on film.
Tressie's images are such perfect captures of those beautiful moments that we treasure for the rest of our lifes. If you look at every single picture in her gallery, you will feel like you know Riley, Allie, Dominic, and Robby, a little better.

The way she photographs is a lesson for any photographer: If you love what you shoot, it shows. This is true of any subject, but through people the light shines brightest.
Take a look at that picture of Riley up there. There is such a strong communication of love happening there between her and her mum, and one reason great pictures are so amazing is that communication passes directly to the viewer. It provides an ultimate vicarious experience. It is as if the photographer is the middleman, working to link the subject and the viewer with no intermediary.
Tressie loves what she shoots, and so do I. She's smiled warmly at me and said 'It's not all perfect all the time, there are hard times and hurt and anger, but I try to show the smiles.' And you do an amazing job. I only wish for a family one day that will have as many beautiful smiles and laughs to compliment the hard times, as you've presented to us here.

Now for a technical analysis. =)

Tressie has developed (:slow:) a style of perfect exposure, beautiful saturated colours, bang-on skin tones and a very classic and real feel. When I say real I mean you feel as if you are looking not at a picture, but through a window. Sometimes it is infinitely satisfying to look at an image and say 'that looks so real!' because in the world of photos and photoshop, 'real' is often left by the wayside, discarded for the likes of 'funky' and 'manipulated'.
An image that surpasses real and ordinary, and ascends to surreal and extraordinary by presenting you with a captured moment that seems so perfect that it seems as if it were created from pure energy as opposed to pulled from an every day moment -- that is the Wow Factor that photographers hope to achieve, and it is what keeps me browsing =VSprink's gallery.

In addition to her naturalistic images, she's also played around with photoshop and processing and has created some pretty nifty 'funky' shots, too.

Okay, I've rattled enough, time to chuck some thumbs at you. You probably should make sure you're sitting down first.
There's a LOT of thumbs this time. Whenever I do a full feature I include ALL of the shots from the person's gallery that make me go :wow: :faint: :heart: :love: :excited: WOW. And there are a lot. (Fifty-two to be precise.)
=)

And now, Tressie Davis Photography is pleased to bring you our feature presentation. Please ensure that all cell phones are turned off and your seats are in their locked, upright position and stuff.

:excited::excited::excited:

Take a look for Tressie Davis Photography on Facebook too, there's some wicked images on there that are not on deviantArt. I think this link works: [link]

you, no not you, yeah you.....wait...you.
I added your handwriting to my stalker wall. it is not stellar but my name looks amazing in your script. I am in the middle of cutting both names out and 'hearting' them together.
It's gonna be amazing.

And Tom, wash your clothes. That coffee was worse than the road kill. Gah, I nearly barfed.
